About the documented programme
According to the Better Practice Case Study published by the Australian Government's National Blood Authority, the BloodMove Project involved sixty regional hospitals across South Australia.
Its stated aims included effective blood-inventory management, reducing avoidable wastage, and supporting emergency blood supplies in regional centres through coordinated movement of stock between sites.
A reduction in avoidable blood wastage from 15% in July 2007 to less than 1% in January 2013.
An SA Health document dated 11 March 2025 continues to describe BloodMove as a state-based program within the South Australian blood sector.
